Instagram has officially launched Edits, a new standalone video editing app for Android and iOS users, marking a major step in the platform’s bid to rival popular tools likeTikTok’s in-app editor and CupCut.

The app offers a range of easy-to-use features such as clip trimming, transitions, filters, music overlays, and text options, tailored to both everyday users and content creators.

With Edits, Instagram hopes to streamline the content creation process and encourage users to produce and share more polished videos without leaving the Meta ecosystem.

This move comes as demand for mobile video editing tools continues to grow, especially among Gen Z and millennial users driving trends on platforms like TikTok.

By launching Edits, Instagram is not only tapping into that market but also challenging CapCut currently one of the most downloaded video editing apps globally and closely tied to TikTok’s rise.

The release is now live on Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store globally.
