Elon Musk has confirmed the successful deployment of 28 new Starlink satellites, further expanding SpaceX’s global satellite internet network.
The satellites were launched aboard a Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station and have since reached their designated low-Earth orbit.
The announcement was made via Musk’s official X (formerly Twitter) account shortly after the satellites were deployed: “Deployment of 28 @Starlink satellites confirmed.”
This move comes as Amazon also recently accelerated development of its competing satellite network, Project Kuiper, which is expected to begin full-scale deployment in 2026.
While Amazon has launched only two prototype satellites so far, it has secured over 90 rocket launches to bring its internet vision to life.
With this launch, Starlink’s constellation surpasses 5,500 active satellites, providing coverage in over 70 countries.
The service is especially impactful in remote and underserved areas, delivering fast and low-latency internet via compact ground terminals.
SpaceX also successfully landed the Falcon 9 booster on its drone ship in the Atlantic Ocean, reinforcing its lead in reusable rocket technology.
As the space race between Musk and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos intensifies, satellite internet is quickly becoming the next frontier in global connectivity.
